MMSEC08-rao-cauchy Source Code

This is "The Multimedia Signal Processing and Security Lab", short WaveLab, website. We are a research group at the Artificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces (AIHI) Department of the University of Salzburg led by Andreas Uhl. Our research is focused on Visual Data Processing and associated security questions. Most of our work is currently concentrated on Biometrics, Media Forensics and Media Security, Medical Image and Video Analysis, and application oriented fundamental research in digital humanities, individualised aquaculture and sustainable wood industry.
MATLAB code implementing and testing the lightweight Rao-Cauchy detector for additive watermarking proposed in the paper

Abstract: This paper presents a lightweight, asymptotically optimal blind detector for additive spread-spectrum watermark detection in the DWT domain. In our approach, the marginal distributions of the DWT detail subband coefficients are modeled by one-parameter Cauchy distributions and we assume no knowledge of the watermark embedding power. We derive a Rao hypothesis test to detect watermarks of unknown amplitude in Cauchy noise and show that the proposed detector is competitive with the Generalized Gaussian detector, yet is more efficient in terms of required computations.
